What a dryer booster fan installation actually involves
First the existing run gets cleaned and measured. Length matters, but elbows matter more. Each 90 counts against you like added feet. Then the transition duct behind the dryer gets checked. Foil or white vinyl comes out. Crushed duct in a tight closet mimics a long-run problem, and a fan will not fix it.
Mounting point comes next. The fan sits downstream of the dryer, on rigid metal, where it can be reached again. Attic, garage ceiling, crawlspace, or a corridor chase in older courtyard buildings. It needs power. Most units switch on by pressure or by sensing dryer current, so no wiring to the appliance itself. Joints get sealed with foil tape.
